Bring Home the Spa!

Posted by Daisy | 1 Comment

December is probably one of the most stressful months of the year. There are added end of the year work stresses, getting presents for your family and friends for the holidays, staying on a budget when there are so many cute things for sale and handling that annoying family member during the holidays. So we have compiled this list of at home spa remedies to keep you somewhat sane this month:

1.)    Take a bath with one of the following oils: Lavender (relaxer), peppermint (clears the sinuses & smells like the holidays), eucalyptus (clears the sinuses) or geranium (relaxes the body). Add flame-less candles for a calming look without the fire aspect. These are also cheaper than purchasing scented candles.

2.)    Do Tai Chi or Yoga for at least 15 minutes a day. Stretching is a great way to relieve stress as well as it’s a good workout for your body! Plus, there are hundreds of how to videos on YouTube

3.)    Change the sheets on your bed. Always nice to fall into a nice smelling bed and it could help you fall asleep faster!

4.)    Play whatever music you love! It doesn’t have to be the typical relaxing music, if hard rock is what relaxes you then listen to that for a while!

5.)    Create your own facials– the most simple is mixing water and oatmeal until you get a paste then rub it off after it dries on your face. For more unique but simple facial recipes check out this Hub Page.

6.)    If you are really ambitious you can take over a room, dim the lights, light scented candles, play some soft music (like waves crashing or Hawaiian music), and sit/lay down in the room , close your eyes and focus only on your breathing. If you can do this for at least 20 min it will be worth it!

7.) Use scented lotions or creams before you go to bed so you can smell the calming scents before you go to sleep. Not only will it smell good, it will help keep your skin soft! For example try, Remedy Every Day Moisturizer

Chances are you are not the only one in your life stressing. Your friends and family probably are too. So why not do a Spa Party one night? This is a great way to spend time with everyone and at the same time be able to de-stress without the high prices of spas in the area. Here is a starting guide to putting on your own spa party!

Tips for Sore Feet

Posted by Daisy | 1 Comment

sore feet

Being on your feet all day is a pain. Literally. You know how it is – the pressure in your heels and insteps starts to build,  your ankles begin to swell, and maybe even numbness starts to set in to your toes.

Ouch.

Yes, your job is demanding and being on your feet all day is just part of the gig. There’s no getting around it. However, there are several ways that you can lessen your tootsies aches and pains. Check out these tips and tricks for preventing and treating sore feet:

Stretch and massage. Make a habit of massaging and stretching your feet each night. Lay in bed and circle your foot (ankle rotations) or give your soles a rub down. Tip: Fill an old plastic water bottle three quarters of the way full and freeze it. Set it on the ground, take off your shoes, and roll it back and forth on the floor with the bottom of your foot. This helps to limber up the foot AND gives it a nice little massage. Plus, the coldness will help to ease any swelling.

Wear the right shoes. Can you wiggle your toes inside your shoes? No? Then they are too narrow or too small. Do the arches of your feet ache by the end of your shift? Yes? Then your shoes don’t have enough arch support. The right pair of shoes can make all the difference. Choose a shoe that is lightweight yet supportive, breathable, and with plenty of toe room (check out Oxypas Footware & Socks Ultralite Clog with Adjustable Heel Strap).

Pay attention to your feet. You only have one pair! If you notice an increase in every day pain then don’t just chalk it up to working long hours. See a podiatrist.

Angelstat Scrubs Provide Operating Room Durability for All Medical Professionals

Posted by Rebecca | Comments Off

Angelstat Scrubs from MedlineMedical scrubs need to be durable enough to withstand the demands of a double shift in the emergency room but do not need to be so “rugged” that you may as well be working in overalls. Angelstat scrubs by Medline are the perfect combination of comfort and durability.

We hear from countless medical professionals that have purchased trendy scrubs only to have them fall apart after one washing or fray under the frantic working conditions that can exist at hospitals and health care institutions. Still others talk of buying rugged scrubs that have the rigidity of cardboard and do not move with the customer. A hybrid must exist. Luckily, one does.
