Unisex scrubs have been around since the birth of the scrubs. They are the perfect choice for hospitals that are purchasing medical scrubs for all their employees; employees who are both men and women. Quickly, scrubs have morphed to come in a variety of styles that are targeted at just men or just women. However, unisex scrubs are still the most popular scrubs. Here are the Pros and cons to unisex scrubs:
The v-neck scrub top is a staple in the medical field. However, not everyone wants to go with the v-neck top. So, here are two great alternatives to the v-neck.
The Cherokee Mini Mock Wrap Contrast Top
While the mock wrap does form a v, the piping adds a different dimension to the garment and gives it a different feel than the traditional v-neck top. Also, a mock wrap is flattering for more curvy body types.
Medline AngelStat Keyhole Neckline Top
The keyhole neckline top is more conservative compared to the v-neck top and is a different look. It is also a great option for people who have pear-shaped body types because it brings attention to your neck and face.
Here is a men's scrub set that is practical and durable. The Landau V-neck top in Caribbean blue and the Landau Reversible Drawstring Pants in Caribbean blue as well. Having one color sets keep you looking put together, sleek and with the right color, can even help make you look taller. Not to mention having the same color for the top and bottom makes getting dressed in the morning that much easier.
This outfit has our on-the-run nurses in mind. Most of your day is running from one area to another. You need scrubs that aren’t only comfortable and durable, you need scrubs that will help you out. PerforMAX scrubs will do just that! They are made the same way athletic clothes are made to help keep moisture away from your body keeping you cool and help sweat not become a problem. The top has long sleeve insets that fit snug to your arms. This has been approved to be used on nurses who aren’t scrubbing in for a surgery. They are also great for nurses who maybe get a little chilled throughout the day.
To match the top, we suggest the PerforMAX drawstring scrub pants. These traditional design pants are made of the same moisture-wicking fabric to keep you dry and cool.
Soil release finishes can be found on many industrial or service garments. A soil release finish can help prevent different liquids and powders from soaking into the fabric. This makes cleaning the garment a lot easier if the stain stays on top of the garment. It does this by increasing the tension of the surface of the garment. This causes the liquid/powder that falls on the garment to to bead up and reduce the speed to which the garment absorbs the stain.
This is a fantastic technology for scrubs. If you are in a field of health care where stains are a every day occurrence, having soil release finishes can help you save more scrubs because you are able to fully remove a stain. Scrubs 123 offers a variety of Medline scrubs that come with a soil release finish. A popular scrub set would be our AngelStat Reversible V-neck top paired with our AngelStat Cargo Pants with Drawstring waist. Both are these have a soil release finish to help prevent stains. Not only are they functional, but both fit comfortably and come in a variety of colors!
The PerforMax long sleeve reversible top is an innovative scrub top that incorporates the material found in athletic wear on the arms. To help nurses comply with the AORN’s recommendation for non scrubbed nurses to cover their arms in restricted areas. The elastic sleeves are a welcomed alternative to warm up jackets as a way to cover up the arms.
The PerforMax top is also perfect for anyone who frequently gets chilly easily and doesn’t want to deal with the bulkiness of nursing jackets. Buy your PerforMax Long Sleeve Shirt today for just $24.99!
Dentists & dental hygienists are in close proximity with their patients. To clean their teeth you must be close and your arm pits can be exposed. Nobody wants their patients to be able to smell their body odor during a teeth cleaning appointment, so here are some tips to prevent an uncomfortable visit in the dentist’s chair.
1.) If you know you sweat more than a little bit during the day, use a clinical strength deodorant, like Secret Clinical Strength Antiperspirant
2.) Wearing an additional t-shirt or long sleeve shirt under your scrubs creates an extra barrier between your skin & the patient. See some great shirts here.
3.) If you don’t want to wear the extra layer, try scrubs that are made to move moisture away from the skin. PerforMAX™ scrubs are ideal for dentists. With multiple styles, they have the pockets in all the right places and the moisture wicking technology in the fabric keeps dentists & dental hygienists cool and dry all day long!
The showers have past, the flowers are in full bloom and the weather is finally heating up! Which means those heavier scrubs of the winter might not be the greatest at the office (unless your boss loves to keep the AC on full blast!). When picking out summer scrubs pick scrubs that are breathable (e.g. made of polyester, cotton blended materials, etc) so some air can get through the material and keep you cool. The ideal scrubs would be the high performance PerforMAX scrubs. These scrubs were influenced by athletic wear so it helps pull moisture away from the body to keep you from sweating and delays the chance of the embarrassing pit stains.
The best colors for this summer are light pastel colors that will reflect the sun and help keep you cool. Our suggestions are scrubs that are ceil blue, pink or jade.

A nurse does more than what any patient realizes. Nurses are the medical provider, the support system, the stern mother, the maid, and so much more. To do all these rolls nurses must be equipped. Here is our Nurses’ Gear Guide-
1.) Pens. A staple of the nurses’ arsenal. You never know when you will need a pen, and it would be very smart to always keep a back up because somehow pens have a knack for running away when you need them the most. If you don’t want the pen staying loose in your pocket, take advantage of the scissor pocket. Clip the pen onto the scissor pocket and the pen will stay in one place so you can find it when you need it. Use a scrub top like the AngelStat™ V-neck w/ two pockets which has the additional scissor pocket within the front pocket.
2.) Scrubs with pockets. Lots of them! With all the different items nurses need to carry around from patient to patient, pockets are a must have for scrubs! For maximum number of pockets, match the PerforMax™ 839 scrub top with two large pockets with the PerforMax™ Cargo scrub pants which has four pockets (2 front and 2 side pockets).
3.) Peppermint oil or other scented oil- for the patients that don’t smell like flowers or candy. Sometimes it’s just nature that a few patients will not smell good. But as a nurse, we must go in and stay professional and friendly. So, a little secret is to put some peppermint below the nose so you can smell something nice and remain composed and prevent the patient from feeling conscious about their body odor.
4.) Bag of tricks. Aka the tote bag that holds all the items a nurse needs throughout his/her shift. With all the items that are needed for the job on a daily basis, plus the personal items such as lunch, a wallet, phone, extra scrubs, change of clothes, etc. a nurse needs a bag that is able to hold it all and still look cute & trendy. Check out Medline’s trendy totes made of 50% recycled products and prices start at just $6.18!

5.) Stethoscope. Many nurses are responsible for having their own stethoscopes while on their shift. It is important to get a high quality stethoscope. We think it’s also important to have a back up stethoscope, because when working in the medical profession, we know surprises are the norm and a back up stethoscope should be in the nurse’s arsenal
6.) Scissors: You never know when you or a fellow nurse/ doctor will need some scissors. They can be for serious issues like cutting patients out of their clothes in the ER, or opening a package of fruit snacks for a patient who is too weak to open it themselves.
7.) Music: When you are on break, you need to escape the drama & stress the job brings. Go somewhere quiet and listen to your favorite music. Music is known to help relieve stress and it will certainly break up the day being able to listen to some music half way through the shift!
