Pet with Busy ScheduleThe first couple months that you had your pet you were probably a really, really good pet parent. Probably the first year as a whole wasn’t that bad. Special walks, special food, special treats... Lil’ Sparky probably felt very loved. But let’s face it. You’re pressed for time and you work crazy hours. You and your pet probably have worked out a system by now (in exchange for food once a day there’s no pooping on the carpet) and any additional care simply doesn’t seem feasible.

Yes, it’s a fact of life that your pet won’t get as much attention when you’re taking on extra shifts and working long hours. But there are several ways that you can squeeze in a lil’ extra lovin’ for your furry friend. Check out these tips on caring for pets while maintaining a busy work schedule:

1. Regulate feeding. Free feeding could lead to obesity, so schedule a meal time for your pet and stick with it. Make a habit of rinsing out and refilling the water dish every day.

2. Combine your workout with your pooch’s walk. At least a couple times a week use your daily workout time to take Rover on a walk. This doesn’t have to be long! A brisk 15-minute jaunt will be good for both of you!

3. Wear your pet out once a week. At least once a week make it a goal to wear your pet out. This could be a vigorous string-chase with your kitten or some repetitive fetch with your retriever.

4. Make vet checkups and grooming visits a priority. Schedule them regularly and stick to ‘em. Healthy and clean pets are happy pets!

5. If you’re really pressed for time, consider hiring a pet sitter (a professional or a neighborhood kid that you trust) to feed and play with your pets. It may cost a little, but it can increase the happiness and longevity of your furry friends.

Some people just seem to glow. Their skin is clear, smooth, and free of age spots. Even in the dead of winter their hands are soft and their lips are far from chapped. So unfair!

Do yourself a favor before you resign yourself to simply accepting your blemished, wrinkled, and dry-skinned state. Some simple dietary and lifestyle changes may be all it takes to recharge your epidermis and get that coveted glow! Check out this list of simple ways of keeping your skin healthy:

1. Sunscreen! Make a habit of putting it on every single day. Even in the winter the sun’s harsh rays can wreck havoc on your skin.

2. Wash with warm (rather than hot) water. Steamy showers might feel good, but hot water can strip your skin of essential oils and moisture (which can lead to eczema and breakouts). If you want baby-smooth skin then treat your skin... like a baby!

3. Keep your hands off. Touching your face repetitively and/or popping pimples can cause breakouts. Rubbing your eyes and/or tugging at your skin can lead to wrinkles. Be mindful of keeping your hands clean before touching your face in any way. (Tip: keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your pocket, purse, or car.)

4. Always, always, always, wash your face before going to bed. By the end of the day your face is coated in an invisible layer of sweat, grime, airborne germs, dust, and oils. Clean the gunk off before you go to bed and your skin will be able to breathe (and your pillowcase won’t get nasty!).

5. Use a daily moisturizer. This will help to lock in the skin’s natural oils and will protect the skin from the drying effects of cold temperatures and dry heat. Try an all-in-one moisturizer like Remedy Skin Repair Cream with Olivamine for superior dry skin relief and daily protection.

6. Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean protein sources. Be sure to eat foods with plenty of ‘good fats’ (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated) to maintain a youthful visage. Include olive oil, avocados, and almonds in your diet. Cut back on saturated fats and sugars.

7. Quit smoking and limit your alcohol intake. We know it’s easier said than done, but these lifestyle changes will greatly improve your skin tone and clarity.

8. Check out our Industrial Strength Skin Care line - Remedy. Remedy was originally developed for Nurses, but when they began to ask for Remedy products for personal use as well, we launched RemedyAdvancedSkinCare.com! From Moisturizers and Skin Protectants to Cleansers and Anti-Aging, we have the Remedy for all of your skin issues.

Twitter in WorkplaceStill not sure what “tweet,” “follow” and the “@” symbol have in common? It’s time to get with the times. And we don’t mean creating a Twitter account just so that your spouse, your college roommate, and your Mom can all receive up-to-the-minute info on what you ate for lunch and what color socks you’re wearing. If you’ve never considered how Twitter can be utilized in the workplace then here are some creative ideas:

Twitter keeps coworkers connected. Unify your department by sharing timely information on conferences, meetings, and resources.

Twitter can be utilized as a public relations communication system. This can be used to connect with patrons and to communicate announcements, discounts, and promotions. (Tip: It’s advisable for managers to register their company’s name as early as possible so that another user doesn’t register the name first.)

Twitter can enhance employee’s public profiles. Personal twitter promotion can communicate employee credibility and enhance a company’s reputation.

Twitter can help companies stay in the know when it comes to competition and new developments in the industry.

Before creating a workplace twitter account it’s best to review your employment policies and procedures (think ahead of time about what you should and shouldn’t post online!). Those in management should discuss the ramifications of using Twitter with the company’s legal team. Management should also consider which handles (names) people should post under and should create clearly communicated expectations for what constitutes as a permissible work tweets (and what does not). Once the ground rules are established and understood everyone can benefit from (and enjoy) utilizing Twitter while on the job!

Ways to Relax

RelaxEver find yourself making excuses for not relaxing? Yeah, we know picking up those extra shifts is important. And we know that the kids have to be chauffeured to practice, the laundry needs to be folded, the dog has a vet appointment, and that you’re out of milk so it’s probably time to make a grocery run. But if you don’t take time to relax now you’re busy lifestyle will leave you depleted and drained. Plus effective relaxation doesn’t mean you gotta book a week-long stay at a resort (although that would be nice). Check out these quick and easy ways of de-stressing and relaxing:

1. Start your morning right. Grab some ginseng tea (it’s known to kick-start metabolism AND ease anxiety) and nosh on some complex carbs (they increase serotonin levels) and protein (it will help you focus). Try oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, or whole-wheat toast with peanut butter.

2. Turn on some tunes. Remember when you were in high school and getting dressed involved lip-synching and air-guitaring to your favorite song? Studies prove that music eases stress. Plus, throwing in some dance moves burns calories. Worried about what the rest of the family will think? Don’t. Crank that stereo baby.

3. Reduce your sugar intake. You’ll be amazed at how a sugar-reduced diet can increase your mood (and decrease your waistline).

4. Take 10. Each day, make a point of taking 10 minutes to do something you love. Maybe it’s 10 minutes of browsing your favorite blogs. Maybe it’s taking a walk around the block. Maybe it’s it’s 10 minutes of yoga (any one up for corpse pose?). Whatever it is, make a habit of seizing time for yourself.

Once you’ve had your 10 minutes of daily chill time be sure to check out Scrubs123 online. It’s the best web resource for a wide variety of  Scrub Uniforms, Medical Scrubs, & Nursing Scrubs. Color Coded Uniforms

color coded uniformsMaybe you’re a little bit jealous. You’ve got friends who have picked out all their celebratory Valentine’s scrubs (and they’re already ordering festive prints for Saint Patty’s Day and Easter). Meanwhile, you’re stuck wearing the same old color you’ve worn all year. Bah. Humbug.

If you’re a scrub-wearing individual and you don’t have the freedom to choose your own scrub colors then allow us to make you feel cool again. Check out these facts on why color coded scrub uniforms aren’t so bad:

• Patients are more able to identify the different types of healthcare professionals. Long term outcome - you may be asked less questions that have nothing to do with your department!

• Color coded scrubs enable you to more readily identify the people in your department (this is especially helpful if you work at a large facility).

• It’s a heck of a lot easier to figure out what to wear each day.

• It’s much more cost efficient to wear color coded scrubs. No one knows if you’re wearing the same scrubs twice in one week!

• Many hospitals and healthcare institutions are recognizing the importance of offering choice within the color-coded boundaries. This means you can still pick out the pants and top styles that you prefer.

If you wear color coded scrubs and your employer doesn’t offer a choice in style then consider recommending SuiteStyles by Medline - Color by Discipline, Hospital Uniform Policy. This easy to use program can be customized to your institution’s specific needs. Ordering new scrubs is a cinch - all you have to do is log in to your company’s custom account and you can browse the available options for your department. Then, whenever you need to reorder, check out SuiteStyles retail site - Scrubs123 - where you can buy Medical Scrubs and Nurses Uniforms online.

Save TimeTime. It’s elusive, fleeting and oh so necessary when you’ve got three more errands to run and only 20 minutes left (and before you know it you’ve wasted 2 of those 20 minutes just staring at the clock and trying to think of a way to skip the dry cleaners or wait until tomorrow to pick up milk).

Why is it that when we’re most pressed for time it seems to take twice as long as normal to complete basic tasks? Running errands is no piece of cake, but the whole process can turn into a nightmare when you’re racing the clock. So next time you’ve got a mile long list of errands try some of these tried and true tricks for making the most of your time:

• Keep an ongoing list of items that you need. Add items as soon as they run out or as soon as you realize you need them.

• Keep a canvas bag by the door. Stash it with coupons, items you need to return, etc...

• Head to the furthest destination first. You’ll save time and be more likely to hit all your stops on the way back (instead of giving up or running out of time).

• Try to schedule your errands between 10-noon, 1-3, late in the evenings, or on Sundays.

• Take a water bottle and snack items with you (you’ll be less likely to waste time going through a drive-through).

• If possible, schedule errands near your place of work. You can easily knock out some items on your to-do list on your way to or from work.

• Take a moment at the end of each day (or each week) to review your calendar and to-do list. Thinking ahead will help you plan enough time to efficiently run errands.

With all the free time you’ll have left after running errands be sure to check out Scrubs123 on the web. We’ve got a superior selection of Medical Scrubs and Nurse’s Uniforms (plus easy online ordering and fast shipping).
